Lead Vocals, Guitar, Bass and Band Manager

Since learning to play 12 string guitar in the second grade, John has been making music in many ways. In addition to playing acoustic and electric guitars in classical, folk and modern styles, John knows it's all about the bass and keeps the grove tight for Coastal Route. John has eclectic music tastes and brings a broad variety of influences as well as technical know-how to keep Coastal Route rocking!

Sandy Jolley

Lead Vocals and Band Manager

She’s got the voice, the vibe, and the energy to light up any stage. From Pat Benatar to Journey, Sandy brings the best of ‘70s & ‘80s rock, pop, and country straight to the crowd. 

You’ve seen her with Crimes of Passion and River City Rockers—now catch her with Coastal Route, turning every gig into a party. Let’s rock! 

Nils Groneng

Drums

Nils keeps the beat alive behind the kit as the drummer for Coastal Route and his local church band. Based in mid-coast Maine, he’s been laying down solid grooves for years, inspired by the powerful rhythms of bands like Chicago, Journey, Heart, Rush, and Boston. Known for his upbeat energy, hard work, and love for making music that moves people, Nils brings heart, drive, and a whole lot of fun to every performance.


 

Jonathan Singer

Electric Guitar and Vocals

Jonathan has been rocking the stage since his early teens, picking up the guitar at 12 and joining bands by 13. Now the lead guitarist for Coastal Route, he channels the fire and finesse of legends like Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Aerosmith, and Eric Clapton. With a cool, focused presence and killer tone, Jonathan brings classic rock to life with every solo. Off stage, he enjoys golf, boating, and quality time with family—but when the lights come on, he’s all about the music.

Jack Broderick

Keys

Jack is a self-taught pianist with over 30 years of experience and a deep love for the craft. After two decades performing with original bands, he stepped away to raise a family—but life had more music in store. A cancer survivor with a renewed passion, Jack returned to the stage and now brings his keys and energy to the Coastal Route band. Influenced by legends like Billy Joel, Led Zeppelin, Prince, and The Beatles, Jack is a hardworking musician who’s always up for exploring new sounds and keeping the music alive.

Charlotte Sustersic

Violin and Vocals

Charlotte graces the stage with her soaring vocals, her heartfelt violin riffs and her youthful enthusiasm for music. Starting violin at the age of 4, Charlotte is a born stage performer, singing in auditioned youth choirs and serving as co-concertmaster for the Portland Youth Symphony Orchestra. In addition to rockin' with Coastal Route, she sings in her college Treble choir "Nothing But Trebs" and studies violin performance at college.

Lou Larios

Electric Guitar and Vocals

Lou brings a world of experience—and a whole lot of groove—to Coastal Route. A multi-instrumentalist who plays guitar, harmonica, and banjitar, Lou served 4 years in the military and spent 32 years in civil service for the Navy. He’s lived in both Italy and Japan, where he played in a band and deepened his love for global music. Fluent in three languages and influenced by artists like Santana, Chicago, and Earth, Wind & Fire, Lou is also a proud guitar collector and gun enthusiast. His style is seasoned, soulful, and always ready to jam.

Bill Waterman

Congas and Percussion

Known on stage as “Wild Bill,” this seasoned percussionist brings rhythm, soul, and a laid-back vibe to Coastal Route. A longtime performer with a passion for world music and the grooves of Santana, Bill’s beats are as dynamic as his interests. When he’s not keeping time behind the congas or bongos, you’ll find him gliding through cross-country trails, fly fishing in the wild, or pondering the wonders of physics, math, and history. Wild Bill’s energy is grounded, thoughtful, and full of heart—and good people keep him inspired to keep the beat going.
